Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP)
PMP is a programme of movement that, through planned activities, concentrates on the development of the child’s perceptions of self, their world, as well as time and space and the development of language. It is hoped that PMP will enable children to develop motor skills that assist them with their learning and classroom work, to a point where their skills are automatic. At ISH we call it "Ninja Training".As part of PMP, we had the children practice eye tracking. "The skill of eye tracking is necessary for children to read and write across the page and have return sweep. To read, you have to have to good eye fitness. Your eyes have to be able to track, to be able to move from one side to another. If you've being doing lots of sitting and looking at computers or televisions, eyes can develop ocular lock and it's harder for them to move."
We hung a tennis ball from the ceiling. The children had to follow the ball using only their eyes.....
Watch Laila as she shows us how to eye track...
