Wow - look at the crane.... and.........Wow- look at our skin......

One morning the children came to school very excited - a new crane could be seen from our playground.  So, we quickly rushed through our morning routine to run across the fields to check it out.

Back at school some serious ninja training was going on....

Trying to keep up with big sister on the playground......

Back out to see the progress on the building..............

But the best bit was chasing Mr. Phil around the field....

We learned a lot about our skin.  We had 3 basins of water.... one basin had ice in it - it was really cold.  One basin had water with added water from the kettle - it was really warm.  One basin had water at room temperature- it was just right.  The children learned that your skin touches the water and a message gets sent to the brain..... the brain quickly registers that it is hot/cold and sends a warning message back.

We took a close look at the surface of our skin - we saw hair and freckles and sometimes owies.

We also learned how to brush our teeth properly - up and down and the front and the back for 2 minutes!

The children learned that the skin also carries germs and that's why we have to wash our hands after going to the bathroom and before eating food.  We rubbed chalk on our hands and shook other people's hands to see how far our germs travelled..... it was great fun 'sharing germs' with our friends!
