Today in the Knowledge and Understanding room the children made bird feeders. Luckily google brought up some ideas that didn't require peanut butter, so this is what we did!
There were two styles. One required hallowing out an apple and the other used an orange peel. Once the children had made their 'hole' we filled it with bird feed and tiny bits of apple. Then, so that the fees didn't fall out, we melted some gelatine and poured it over the seed and apple. We waited til after lunch and after it had set, we went outside to find good places to hang them. Enjoy your feast little birdies :)
Scooping out apple is tough work!
We used cookie cutters to define the scooping out area of the apple.
For the orange, we tore and cut the apple into tiny pieces.
