For the last few weeks, the focus in the Communication, Language and Literacy room has been poetry! In order to inspire the children, we placed some mystery boxes on the table and the children had to place their hands inside and describe how the object felt. They then looked and smelled the objects to see if they could find other adjectives to describe the things they were looking at. We placed all the words together to make poems... have a look below to see how they turned out!
It didn't take long for children to see how easy it is to makeup their own poems and soon there was not enough wall space to display them all!!!! Some children chose to write the whole poem themselves while others labelled their pictures or wrote the title- all were amazing. Have a look at a very small sample below:
